116 Water Street – Mark Bloodgood House – 1916

Martin and Elnita Bloodgood lived in the house from about 1916 to 1919. They moved to Beaufort where Mr. Bloodgood worked as an engineer. Elnita was a Woodhull and both of their families lived in Swansboro. Martin Bloodgood served in World War I.

Daniel H. Russell and Alice Williams Russell moved into the house about 1920, after living on and farming Russell’s Island(Huggins Island) for about 40 years. Daniel H. Russell was a Civil War Veteran. He remained in the house until his death.
